The speedy, relatively painless and affordable way to treat a range of skin conditions
By using PDT’s non-invasive light technology, Doctors can now treat a range of skin conditions (including superficial types of skin cancer, actinic keratoses and superficial basal cell carcinomas) in a speedy, relatively painless and affordable way with minimal side effects and downtime. PDT It is also useful for facial rejuvenation and to treat mild to moderate acne.
How is the treatment performed?
A photosensitising agent is applied to the affected area (eg. face, hands, etc). When applied to the skin, it’s absorbed into abnormal or damaged cells. Once absorbed, an LED, IPL or laser light source is focused on the treated area for a period of time. When exposed to light, the photosensitising agent is activated and abnormal skin cells are destroyed to reveal new, fresh, healthy skin cells.
